The Avoncroft Arts Society’s History of Art course offers a deep dive into fascinating themes across centuries of artistic expression. Whether you're a longtime member or a newcomer eager to expand your knowledge, this course will enrich your understanding and appreciation of art.
Each session will be held on a Thursday afternoon, on a term-time basis, with each class focusing on a distinct and engaging theme:

HISTORY
OF ART
Explore the rich history of art with our Autumn Term 2025 course at Avoncroft Arts Society.
This term, our studies will encompass:
• The Venetian Renaissance, with an emphasis on the works of Giovanni Bellini and Titian;
• Fifteenth-century Netherlandish art, focusing on Jan van Eyck, Robert Campin, and Rogier van der Weyden; and
• Mannerism in sixteenth-century Europe, particularly the contributions of Parmigianino, El Greco, and Bronzino.
