Trustees & Staff

Chairman of the Trustees

Gary Crooks

I have been a member of Avoncroft Arts Society for over 10 years and Chairman since 2021. I mainly paint in watercolour but have attended workshops using pastels and acrylic paint.
I also enjoy travelling, photography and gardening and I keep fit by playing football

Arts Society Accountant

Martin Scrimshaw

I have been assisting the Arts Society since 2019 by keeping the accounts and, at times, maintaining the computers. This work is supported by my background as an accountant and financial systems consultant.

Administrator

Sally Durant

I joined Avoncroft Arts Society as their office administrator in January 2022 having come across the job advertisement by happy accident when searching for art classes. It is a lovely, friendly place to work and I never cease to be amazed by the artwork produced by the society members under the expert tuition of our professional tutors.
In my role I manage the membership and weekly class bookings while also organising our biannual craft fairs, the Summer Art Show and Exhibition and various other social and creative events.

Marketing Assistant

Annmarie Hulley

I came to Avoncroft Arts Society in September 2023 to teach the drawing skills class and have subsequently taken on the role of promoting the activities of the society via social media and e-newsletters. I also organise the schedules and bookings of the various one day / weekend workshop events held by our own tutors and visiting local artists and craftspeople.

Trustee

Anne Knight

My interest in art began at an early age and as a primary school teacher of 36 years, with an MA in art education, it continued to develop. I joined Avoncroft Arts Society more than 12 years ago, to pursue this interest in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Unfortunately, despite having a large membership, few people volunteer to undertake the vital role of trustee. I decided to do so, to help ensure Avoncroft Arts Society continues to evolve and flourish.

Trustee

Peter Barker

I joined the Society in 2007 when I started in the Monday afternoon painting class. I am still a member of this class, but am now being taught by my 3rd tutor.

After volunteering to help organise the annual exhibition one year shortly after joining, I was asked to become a Trustee, and have been one ever since.

As well as attending my art class, I enjoy reading, gardening, travelling and going to the gym.

Trustee

Brenda Lines

I have been a member of Avoncroft Arts Society for several years. I am particularly interested in watercolour painting and the use of pastels, or a mixture of both.
My other hobbies include photography, cooking, sewing and going on holiday as often as possible.

Trustee

Diana Curley

My career has spanned some 57 years from low to high profile professional positions in the education, commercial and service industries; gaining skills I never thought was possible when I started work at just 15, being shy and blushing if anyone spoke to me!
Getting involved as a Trustee is a way to use/lend my skills to the society, members and helping others within the community I spent 34 years in, (Bromsgrove). I will learn more about the charity, and the management to work well encouraging those within the Art Society, which is flourishing from past and present staff, tutors and members.
